Tour Guide at Penn State Behrend

Class of 2024

Hometown: Erie, PA

Major: Mechanical Engineering

Advice I would give to incoming students is...

Remember to be open minded and flexible, and be able to adjust to change. For most people, college is a four year period of never ending learning curves and new experiences. It can be very overwhelming to try and define the next steps in your career journey while simultaneously juggling schoolwork, meeting new people, and potentially having to live on your own for the first time. If you approach new experiences with an open mind, you are bound to get the most out of your college experience. It is also important to establish a good support system and have healthy ways of coping with stress because college is not easy.

My favorite location on campus is...

The top of the Burke parking garage. Erie is widely renowned for its sunsets, and from this location you get an amazing view of the lake and the sunset.

I chose Penn State Behrend...

Both of my parents and my older sister are Penn State alumni. So, you could say it's like a family tradition to attend Penn State. In high school I knew that I wanted to major in some sort of engineering. Penn State Behrend has an exceptionally strong engineering program, so it only made sense for me to go here. Furthermore, I wanted to stay close to home, and it doesn't get much closer than half an hour away!

My most memorable Behrend experience...

Walking through the Wintergreen Gorge with my friends. It was still early in the fall semester so the water wasn't too cold yet. We used the rope swing and also jumped off ledges (the water was deep enough) into the creek. Even if you aren't looking to get wet it is a beautiful place take walks, especially in the fall when the leaves are turning colors.
